Quick Roof Estimator is a web application that lets homeowners get an instant roofing price estimate online without calling a contractor. The client, a roofing company, was losing a significant number of leads to competitors simply because the quote request process required a phone call or waiting 24–48 hours for a callback. Many potential customers would search, fail to find an immediate answer, and contact a competitor instead.

The business needed a self-service tool that could handle the full estimation workflow — selecting the roof type, material, and style, measuring the area via an interactive map, applying regional pricing rules, and delivering a branded PDF estimate to the homeowner's inbox — without any manual staff involvement.

The application is a React single-page app with a multi-step wizard that guides the homeowner through roof selection. Step one uses the Google Maps API to let the user locate their property and draw a polygon over the roof area to measure square footage. Step two presents the available roofing materials (metal, tile, asphalt, and flat options) with images and price indicators. Step three applies regional labour rate adjustments and generates a line-item estimate.

Once the estimate is confirmed, the system generates a branded PDF quote and sends it to the homeowner's email address using a serverless function. Every completed quote is simultaneously added to the client's CRM as a new lead with the estimate amount, address, and material selection attached. The client reports that the tool has meaningfully reduced the number of lost leads that previously fell off during the wait for a manual callback.

An admin dashboard built with the same stack lets the client update pricing for materials, labour rates by postcode, and available product images without developer support. The application has been live since 2021 and continues to be actively maintained and extended.
